Tuna Delights (for cats)

Here’s a great idea – why not get up early on Saturday morning and spend an hour baking for a cat? After all it has to be a rewarding experience, our feline colleagues are renowned for their un-fussy attitude to food and the appreciative way they savour every meal lovingly placed before them. What could go wrong?

Dirk may wear white socks, but he don’t eat Tuna Delights

Mix together the flours and milk powder.

Drain and mash up the tuna and add to the flour mixture. Add water and oil and mix well. Add the beaten egg and mix to form a smooth dough. Knead briefly.

Roll out to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into any small shape which you think your cat would like.

Place on a lightly oiled baking tray and bake in the oven for 15 – 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool on wire racks.

Serve to cat.

Store in airtight container in the fridge.

Verdict: Personally I found them a little bland although they were much improved when dunked in hummus. As for Dirk, well he ate one once it had been broken up for him, although I suspect this was more to do with curiosity and greed than genuine appreciation. It has to be noted that the following day he stole and devoured half a pound of Stinking Bishop which had been naively left out on the table, so perhaps cheese biscuits would have been more appropriate. Conclusion? Feed them to the stupid dog.

Drink: Water from the toilet bowl.

Entertainment: Escapology.
